A Follow-Up Conversation on Laws of Attention

In this month’s eNews, I want to follow up on my conversation on “Laws of Attention” paradigm that I’ve been observing and experiencing.

There were several tips shared in my April publication. One of the tips that I would like to elaborate on today is about “Bringing Your Best Energy to Work  Every Day.”

Regardless if your work is in the office, or out in the field, energy has a way in giving you the flow of the day. When you have your flows, you will do good work that will attract attention.

Some examples on how to bring your best energy to work every day:

1)  When you come off from a long weekend, make sure you take a day or half a day off to unwind and get your mind and focus back onto the center of your work or personal pursuit. This will help you be more productive, and productive work will give you more energy to continue with your next priority.

2) When you feel your energy is sapped during the day because of unexpected distraction or simply over exhaustion in completing a task in a hasty pace, take time out like a 15-minutes break or a longer duration if you need to replenish your energy. My favorites are tuning into my best dance-music channels and get my body moving. Movement relaxes tension and improves your thought flows that will lead to productive work.

3) When you find that you are dozing off from a large meal, or hitting a low-energy period of your day, go take a 20-30-minute power nap, because your body is telling you that you need to be off and rest. Don’t feel guilty for taking a siesta in your car or at an outdoor spot that’s safe to do so. In fact, many cultures take siesta because they have long work days, and the small break can make a difference in your energy level.

4) When you find that you are doing negative talk that affects your energy level, you’ll need to step away and shut that voice down — because negative energy can weigh you down, more than you know! Find an inspiring story and read up on it, or watch a funny on YouTube. This will help your mind shifts gears and focuses on positivity. Optimism dials up your energy level and people will tune into you to get more of it.

Keeping your energy flow at a consistent level will help you shine in your work in different lights. So keep up with it, and enjoy the secrets that I’ve shared on  “bringing your best energy to work every day.”
